Before and After: 2672 N Halsted #1 W.
It wasn’t much of a looker before, but wait till you see the after!
Lots of damage was done to the unit due to flooding. We kept the frame and brought in new drywall for just about every wall. As Amy explains an our before video, we were able to save the appliances and reuse the granite. Starting out, two great features of this apartment were it’s open floor plan and outside space. Even small back decks are hard to find in Chicago so we were really excited about it.
Our goal was to have this property completed within four weeks. Take a look at our before video of the condo.
The property is almost unrecognizable in our after video! Drywall really does do wonders doesn’t it? We went with light gray walls, white cabinets and stainless steel appliances to brighten the space. For a dramatic contrast we decorated with rich browns, natural elements and chose beautiful dark wood flooring.
Four texture we added a woven rug, dark stained dining table and to lighter stains tables in the living area. Because every room needs a little bit of pattern we added a second rug and left the windows uncovered so that the beautiful brick on the outside wall could add its own character to the aesthetic of the apartment.
We took all of these elements and use them throughout the entire apartment. Downstairs we chose to continue the color scheme of grays and tans. We turned what was originally a half bath into a full bathroom with a shower. This gave both bedrooms their own bathrooms with the master having its own en suite and the second bedroom having easy access to the bathroom via the hallway.
