Spring has sprung and this year we are seeing purple thanks to the creative minds at
Pantone! That’s right;
emerald is so last year, or so they say. The 2014 Color of the Year with pink undertones is making quite a statement. Here are some of our favorite was to decorate with it!
How to Decorate With the Color of the Year
- · Radiant Orchid stands out even when used in small doses. Not ready to commit to a wall of purple? Use accent pillows instead! Pops of color work best in accessories.
- · Pair Radiant Orchid with white and softer shades of purple and pink for a muted color palette.
- · Small accents make a big statement. Swap out your old rug or dated lamp shade for a vibrant replacement. Renters stuck with white walls can take advantage of this!
- · Do you like color and lots of it? Radiant Orchid pairs well with just about anything from a red couch to green painted walls. It even pairs well with yellows and oranges.
- · Radiant Orchid accented with jewel tones makes for a warm and elegant mood. Try emerald green and deep teal accessories throughout a space.
- · Play with different shades. Start with Radiant Orchid as your base color and then pick 2-3 lighter shades of purple for complementary accent pieces. This broadens your purple themed shopping.
- · The pastel version of Radiant Orchid is a softer stand out hue great for brightening up a room.
- · Ready to go bold? A beautiful wall of this Color of the Year creates a bold statement that works well in minimally decorated rooms.
Before committing to a paint color purchase sample size cans at your local paint store. Paint small squared sections of your wall and live with the colors for a couple of days before choosing one.
